COMMAND TO FREEDOM
Sebastian Ziegler
Per la sua residenza a CONTACT, Sebastian Ziegler ha realizzato nuove opere attraverso video, scultura interattiva e installazione. Durante la permanenza il lavoro si è trasformato: il finissage è stato presentato come un ulteriore momento per incontrarne gli sviluppi e osservare un processo aperto, che invita a tornare.
Il cambiamento e la necessità di cambiare sono al centro della ricerca. La libertà è formulata come comando; forme geometriche in legno collassano verso l’interno e accolgono palloncini di lattice, mettendo alla prova equilibrio e trasformazione. Mostra realizzata con il patrocinio dell’Ambasciata di Finlandia.
Ziegler è nato a Victorville ed è cresciuto a Brema. Si è laureato all’Università delle Arti di Brema nel 2006 e vive e lavora in Finlandia dal 2011. È organizzatore culturale e cofondatore e direttore di Videokaffe.
During his residency at CONTACT, Sebastian Ziegler created new works through video, interactive sculpture and installation. The work continued to transform during the residency; the finissage was presented as another opportunity to encounter its development and observe an open process that invites return.
Change and the need to change are central to the research. Freedom is framed as a command; geometric wooden forms collapse inward and hold latex balloons, testing balance and transformation. The exhibition was held under the patronage of the Embassy of Finland.
Ziegler was born in Victorville and grew up in Bremen. He graduated from the University of the Arts Bremen in 2006 and has lived and worked in Finland since 2011. He is a cultural organiser and co-founder and director of Videokaffe.
